Coral Campus: A Fishy Dating Sim

Finding {love} Connections in the aquarium.

“Coral Campus: A Fishy Dating Sim” is a visual novel that takes place in a college campus located within an aquarium tank. The player will play as Rocky, the new transfer student at University of the Seas (U Sea). Here, they will meet a variety of colorful characters, and have the opportunity to bond with three students: Blobert, Axolola, and Sluglie. We utilized anime-inspired art and a humorous narrative to pay homage to the dating sims we know and love. 

In a slight deviation from traditional dating sims, players are required to cultivate friendships first before being able to date their character of choice. Each character is centered around a certain tenet that contributes to strong relationships: Blobert embodies vulnerability, Axolola embodies empathy, and Sluglie embodies self-love. Through playing through the different character paths, players learn about these different tenets and how they can embody these traits as well. Furthermore, by embodying these traits, players then receive fun facts about each character, which are key to unlocking the dating scene. As with all relationships, we recognize that friendship and knowledge of a person is key before progressing to a romantic relationship.
